Be the first to WIN and READ This! Contest starts: NOW!!

Okay first of all, I’m not going to bury the lead here because I don’t want you to miss the main point. (But I will go into detail after so please, read on!) Here’s the news: You can win the amazing right to be the ONLY person to get a copy of my upcoming book on raising teens with diabetes nearly two months before the publishing date. All you have to do is donate $10 to my JDRF RIDE TO CURE effort, and you’re in the drawing!

So here’s the nitty gritty:

On June 25 of this year my newest book, Raising Teens With Diabetes: A Parent Survival Guide, will hit shelves and on line book stores everywhere. It will be on kindle a week or so before, but the real deal hold in your hands print copy that I can sign or you can throw without smashing the screen will be available June 25.

But in two weeks, a small run of what is called “Advanced Reader Copies” will be completed. These ARC’s are guarded with care: the only hands they get into are the hands of people who will be running reviews just before the book comes out. No exceptions.

Except this time. Because my awesome publisher, Spry Publishing (check them out. They are working at building an amazing team of health writers to help the world with all kinds of topics) agreed to a unique request I made:

Let me give one away, for the sake of a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. As you know if you read this blog, I’m a long time supporter, volunteer and fundraiser for JDRF (as well as other groups like the Clara Barton Camp and the Diabetes Scholar Foundation, as well as many others). I always thought I could not be more motivated, then I spent last week visiting with and following up on the Amazing Anna and the Bionic Pancreas Trial. If you think I was motivated before: check me out now. I’m THIS excited.

So I asked Spry if I could, against what is usually allowed, offer up one ARC of my book to someone lucky. And like the great folks they are, they said yes.

So starting today, and ending the moment I get that book in my hands to sign and overnight to you, IT’S ON! All you have to do is this: donate at least $10 to my JDRF Ride to Cure Effort.

Some details:

*You’ll get an entry for every $10 you donate. That means if you donate $20, you get two. If you donate $50 you get five. If you donate $25 you’re really nice but I don’t know how to do a half entry so two it is. If you donate $50,000 …. I’ll need a calculator. But wait, let me say this: if you donate $50,000 or get someone to heck, I’ll ride my bike from where I am to your house and deliver the book personally. No lie. I will. No matter where you are. Anyway, you get the gist. Every $10 means an entry.

*Heck I am going to add this: if you live anywhere within a day’s driving distance to me, I’ll bring it to you and take you out for coffee. Or lunch. OR cocktails. Your choice. And deliver it to you there.

*This cannot be retroactive. If you’ve already donated, I hope you’ll find $10 more to donate. And I love you for donating. I love you all even if you did not. I’m a lover, not a hater.

*Members of my immediate family are not eligible. Louie the Supercat, that means you too.

*I should have the book in my hand around Monday, April 22 or so. Once I do, I’ll let you all know, give you a half day more for final entries, and then draw the winner and announce it via this blog (and sharing it on FB and twitter of course).

So enter and win! I’ll sign this ARC, get it to you and you’ll be the FIRST to own and read this book, two months before the rest of the world can.

I encourage you to share this blog and contest with your friends who don’t have a child with Type 1 Diabetes – if they win, they can give the winnings to you! So share, share, share, share to win!

So here goes. CLICK HERE TO DONATE. Be sure to write in the comments of the donation page “I WANT THE BOOK!”

I am very excited for the book to come out and I hope with all my heart it helps folks dealing with the challenge of a teen with diabetes (or helps you get ready, or helps you look back and say “yeah!  I did it too!”) The book also includes sections written by my daughter, Lauren Stanford, and other amazing folks in the T1D world like Kerri Sparling, Sara Nicastro, Kelly Kunik and more.

Come on, donate and WIN! Feel free to ask questions in the comment section here.

Thank you so much. We will be known as the people who cured diabetes.
