Hi Moria,

I just read this and cried, and then read it to my husband and cried, and then sent it to friends who got the "no" letter and cried! Carson and our family ARE extremely humbled and grateful that the "cards lined up" in our favor! This is such an insightful article and will be helpful to those friends who wonder why they didn't get "in". Thank you for this fine and encouraging piece of work!!!
so happy to have read this article. We went thru the disappointment twice, only once was daughter old enough to understand. This year she was chosen & we were very sensitive to how our friends that had applied & heard no would feel. Told them privately before putting on FB. I have shared this as well - great read....thanks.

Thanks for putting this one avenue for participation in perspective! We haven't applied (yet) - Luke's too young - but someday we will, and I agree entirely that 99.9% of kids deserve to go. I've been blown away by the poise and relentless, upbeat energy of all the T1 kids and adults I've met who advocate, whether as camp counselors, activists, supports to us "T3" parents. All amazing people.

Thanks for this post...I think?

I've been assuming we weren't selected because January has come and gone without a letter. I accepted it. I prepared for it. I was ready to talk to my daughter about it.

Now you're telling me the letters should be arriving this week?

YIKES!
